Thread Together

I curated an experience for women to join their voices and unify through the act of embroidering. Historically, artists and craftswomen have defiantly used media such as embroidery or textiles, which have often been considered 'women's work,' to protest against injustices or experiences they faced on the basis of their gender. The concept behind this project was to pull together commentary that challenges experiences endured, whether that be systemic or personal. This work was developed through embroidery sessions with women from the New School, where we gathered and talked while producing this work together. The most special thing about this work was the willing participants who showed up to the embroidering sessions and shared their stories.
